An effective breather system is essential, particularly in high performance engines. We generate blow-by and crankcase pressure maps; measure oil carryover; assess the 'catastrophic carryover' limit, at tilt angles up to 45; and pinpoint the blow-by limit i.e. the point where oil 'throwout' is reached. We also conduct breather system freezing tests on a climatic test bed.
